A Critique of Obama's
Speech
Obama was
among the American’s endeared presidents due to his eloquent speeches. He always appeared composed and charming,
which won him great attention from the audience. Obama was never discriminative and was keen
to address the key issues pressing the American people in his speeches. The paper provides a critique of Obama’s
speech known as the “State of Union Address 2016”, which I pay an immeasurable
tribute to due to its significance regarding the American people.
Obama’s
speech was able to discuss the key issues affecting the country in a concise
manner. He utilized a friendly tone and
words that were simple and inspirational.
The speech was easy to comprehend by a majority of the listeners. It was
an inspiration masterpiece to all other leaders in the world. The speech
indicated its value to the minority groups, whose efforts are paramount while
construction a great America. It advocated for unity and love among the workers
and employees. Moreover, Obama skillfully utilized many short pauses to enable
to the audience to ponder on the message delivered. Consequently, the speech was able to heighten
the spirit of many American citizens to retain their glory in the globe.
Obama's
speech, “State of Union Address 2016” demonstrated his faith on the American
people. As stated by in his speech, a majority of citizens rarely expect the
government to be dedicated on the matters related to development and unity of
the nation towards the end of its reign (The New York Times, 2016). Many people
expect the last term of a given president to be characterized by numerous
campaigns and criticism. His speech was
all-inclusive. He was grateful for the leaders involved in budgeting for the
year 2016, who took great consideration regarding on how the working families
will be taxed in the progressive years (The New York Times, 2016).
Obamas’
speech in 2016 touched on individuals personal lives, which made it credible to
listen for one hour with impressive attention, and a myriad of applauses from
the crowd. The key issues highlighted
in the speech comprised drug abuse elimination, equal pay to all people, paid
leave, protection from gun violence and enhancement of the immigration system.
Obama’s
speech motivated the American people to indulge in difficult and challenging
ventures. He referred to the citizens as hardworking families and promised to
support them until they accomplish their burning dreams. Obama was quick to note, “Change is
inevitable, and it shapes our planet, our ways of life and the working environment. Change enables a country to fight for
inequality and broaden opportunities for the minority groups” (The New York
Times, 2016). Obama’s speech was
thrilling to listen, as he insisted that individuals should never fear change,
but should be determined for the enhancement of their lives. Obama explained how Americans have been able
to confront great challenges and become successful in many engagements. He
referred to the advice made by great leaders such as Lincoln, which signified
his selflessness.
Obama’s
speech was in relation to American people expectations. All people crave for
success and security, with is at the top of many people dreams. Obama was able to note the strengths of
American people that consist of the commitment to the country's laws, the
spirit of discovery, work ethic and being optimistic in their endeavors. He was able to list vast changes that have
happened in the past few years. The
changes names brought confidence to the American people, which comprise
employment of 14 million individuals in a span of two years (The New York
Times, 2016). In addition, he praised the recommendable growth of industries,
which has made them employ approximately 1 million individuals annually. Other essential areas discussed in the speech
include medical cost reduction and security problems.
How I Felt About the Speech
Obama’s
speech was encouraging to follow. It enabled me to think profoundly regarding
my life progress and how I can make a significant change in America. It gave me
an assurance of a caring and a committed government. Nevertheless, some of the
issues mentioned such increment in employment opportunities, and great enhancement
in security seems to be far-fetched. A
great number of American people up to date continue wallowing in poverty. In addition, the increased consumption of
drugs and diseases such as depression can be attributed to the limited chances
for sustainable employments. The speech could have provided a concrete formula
on how to tackle employment and increased criminal activities and drug abuse in
American. Although various laws have been enacted to ensure America is a
drug-free country, reduce recidivism, and drug abuse, the speech needed to
provide the guidelines employed for it to be effective. Nevertheless, the speech will remain
inscribed I mind, as it addressed the importance of embracing change and
working with devotion to advance America.
In
conclusion, Obamas’ speech “State of Union Address 2016”, will remain as a
treasure to many individuals. It was
among his last speeches, which gave an overview on how American has progressed.
The speech utilized a simple language, and it was delivered in a friendly
tone. The speech was all-inclusive and
specialized on key issues affecting American people. However, it had various
limitations such as failing to discuss how drug use and continuous unemployment
will be fought.
