I was sitting out in the sun one afternoon with my best friend, Natasha. I cannot remember how long it took, but it must have been close to half an hour. It was like a dream though I did not remember the events that had transpired. I could only imagine coming from the most sought after country in the world—the place where all people are allowed to nurture their skills. In the dream, I saw myself growing passion for becoming a physician assistant (PA). While it has struck me that I wanted to practice medicine, it was not yet so vivid what path I would rather take. Thus, on this day, I found my career in a fantasy. I dreamt of becoming a physician assistant, who could help patients suffering from mental health complications.

My path to achieving the physician assistant dream has not been as straight. I have engaged in several careers but failed to find one matching my dream job. I have worked as a marketing specialist for a popular boutique company. The job was engaging since it entailed the application of critical thinking in all activities and job requirements, such as strategizing, creating brand awareness, and performing market analysis. I have also worked as an academic assistant, which was the most exciting job in my career life since students often asked me intriguing questions. I was motivated since the job came near to my dream career, as it allowed me to share with diverse students and offer priceless pieces of advice and supported student academic excellence. This experience, to me, was like a healing process as I saw the learners leap in joy after excelling. It was not until I found a job in the healthcare sector that I felt my dream was coming alive again. At first, I joined John Hopkins in Baltimore. During my service here, I worked as the health assistant officer, which offered me an opportunity to practice my PA services of offering health guidance and organizing medical logistics. I later moved to the Department of Education, where I have been serving as the financial aid specialist.

I have been unable to get into the medical field and pursue my dream career as a physician assistant. However, I have the determination and passion that can never allow me to give up on my dream job. During my working period at Hopkins University, I made connections with physicians who introduced me to the role though I did not practice it immediately. Afterward, I have been studying and researching the issue. I was also able to interact with the physicians and would admire their intimate interactions with patients as well as the high levels of bonding with other staff members. I was drawn by the way they conducted themselves with composure, even in extreme conditions. Specifically, I was attracted by the way physician assistants in the hospital provided services in diverse ways to meet the needs of different patients. I knew that the exemplary customer service I provided at the Posh Vixen Boutique prepared me for professional conduct and quality customer service through the provision of customized solutions to problems affecting people.

I have enrolled for a course in occupational therapy. Experiences in the classroom have grown my passion for medicine. I have become more interested than ever to learn about patient interactions, patient diagnosis, and the development of intervention plans. I have also increased the time spent in the learning institution, harnessing my skills and knowledge. I have essential experiences at the helm of leadership once as a transition team leader, head of elementary, and further at Cedar Crest Health and Rehabilitation. These leadership experiences have helped in shaping my conduct and exposure. It has also enabled me to ensure that all my tasks are properly done. These experiences have helped me to excel in all leadership areas I have been assigned to perform.

After working in different places and pursuing careers in various fields, I still believe that PA is the job for me. Though I have performed exemplarily in the different responsibilities achieving the set goals and objectives, I still need to be out there saving a life as per my mission and vision. I should be giving hope to the brokenhearted and lifting families of patients from hopelessness and desperation. I should be in a place where one can bring comfort to those in grief. I also want to participate in the healing process to ease the pain of families of patients with mental health disorders. I am adamant that my persistence and knowledge will enable me to become a physician assistant. I am sure that my purpose is to save a life while giving assurance to another.

Becoming a physician assistant is my long-term dream. As a contributor to a multi-practitioner health team, I pledge to strengthen my clinical skills as well as expand my clinical knowledge towards supporting my patients to attain the best outcomes and highest standards of health through best practice. From my previous careers, I have gained immense experience in distinct areas, including clinical knowledge, communication skills, ability to multitask and effective leadership, dedication, exemplary customer service, counseling, and mentorship. I believe that those skills will make me a better Physician Assistant. For this position, I offer my passion, dedication, skill-sets, and knowledge as well as an enduring commitment to achieving all my dreams. Besides that, I have a passion for treating people, caring for them, and providing quality clinical support. Above all, I saw medical practitioners serving patients, and I could tell that it is the most fulfilling job anyone can do. I want to be caught in this complex and heartwarming experience and come out of the examination room a fulfilled PA. My professional experience to-date makes me a suitable candidate to succeed and become the best physician assistant.
