Case Study





The human resource serves a crucial role in any organization. He or she works towards hiring employees. Additionally, the HR is concerned about the welfare and performance of an organization. Therefore, he/she is given the mandate of firing or hiring workers (Bianca, n.d). However, the HR is required to protect all employees while maintaining the proper performance of the organization. The paper will discuss a case study of a person who has been appointed as an HR of a company. It will address how the individual will protect both the employees and the company.
Reaction to the Position in the Company
            As mentioned, HR is a crucial post that is every person in an organization observes. The fact that Sandra is the head of human resource department, she has been given the role of organizing people and ensuring they are completing tasks as required. At the position, Sandra should ensure employees are comfortable with their working environment. Additionally, she should update the organization manager on the progress of the firm. In case of any relevant changes, she should inform the manager so that they are rectified before they bring any negative impact to the firm. Hence, the position calls for Sandra to be active and vigilant. She should be dedicated to her work and ready to cooperate with all stakeholders for smooth running of the firm.
Protecting Employee
            Sandra has the responsibility of protecting employees especially recruits. Most workers who are new to jobs find it hard to pick with the unfamiliar activities. The challenge increases when an employee is direct from college. In colleges, students are enhanced with more of theoretical work than practical. Therefore, they find it hard to cope with real life situation by applying their knowledge. Hence, to protect such workers from getting stressed by their new jobs, Sandra should arrange on the adequate orientation of the individuals. They should be given training to familiarize themselves with the work (Bianca, n.d). Additionally, Sandra will protect the workers through ensuring that they are fairly paid and their salaries are released on time. Such approach will increase workers satisfaction and it will boost their morale towards the job.
Protecting the Company
            The HR protects the company by ensuring work activities are running as expected. In this case, the employees should be competent, skilled and enough in number. Therefore, Sandra should ensure that there is enough number of workers to complete the tasks. Besides, she should follow work output per individual to ensure every employee is productive. At the same time, she should fire incompetent workers. Additionally, Sandra will protect the firm by ensuring the released products are of high quality. Therefore, the company will maintain a good reputation among their customers. 
Final Determinations Set by the HR Department
            The HR department should be supportive by all means. They should assist Sandra in getting competent employees. In this case, they will ensure the department has necessary funds to direct toward activities such as advertising for job opportunities. Besides, they should assist in conducting interviews in order to eliminate applicants who do not meet job requirements. Additionally, the department should embrace the division of labor. They should be ready to assist Sandra and to cooperate with her in coordinating business activities such as monitoring workers and relaying relevant information to management and finance department (Bianca, n.d). The collaboration will lead to success in the department’s objectives.
            In conclusion, head of human resource department plays a vital role in a firm. The individual is required to protect both the company and the employees. Workers are protected by ensuring they are skilled with relevant knowledge to conduct the business task. Similarly, they should be given fair salaries. On the other hand, a company is protected by ensuring workers remain productive while the quality of products remains high.
